In the world of e-commerce, where a seamless user experience and technical stability are paramount, Damask Cakes, an online cake retailer, embarked on a transformative journey.&nbsp;

The client partnered with Webpoint Solutions to re-engineer and redesign their e-commerce platform to elevate their online presence, drive sales, and ensure a glitch-free shopping experience.&nbsp;

This case study will delve into the challenges, innovative solutions, and satisfying results achieved during this exciting project.

About the project

Damask Cakes confronted a series of technical hurdles affecting their website's SEO and overall performance. One of the primary challenges was an outdated React codebase, which caused stability issues and hindered the implementation of new updates.&nbsp;

Migrating to NextJS, a move that promised stability and SEO compatibility by rendering web pages on the server.

Challenges Faced

Changing the Codebase: The decision to migrate to NextJS marked a pivotal moment in the project. This shift stabilized the website and optimized its performance, making it more SEO-friendly.

Improved User Experience: The user interface and experience received a facelift, aligning perfectly with the customer journey on the website. The goal was to streamline the path from category selection to checkout, ensuring intuitive navigation and a better overall experience.

Product &amp; Category Page Enhancements: Navigation was improved by introducing a horizontal category list, facilitating swift transitions from category to product pages. The product page underwent a makeover, providing comprehensive information to help customers make informed decisions.

Technical Optimization: A thorough audit of the website's frontend, backend, server, and database uncovered various technical issues and vulnerabilities.&nbsp;

Issues were addressed and resolved by upgrading PHP and <a href="https://webpoint.io/insights/an-ultimate-ecommerce-solution-magento-enterprise-development-for-your-ecommerce-growth">Magento</a> versions, separating backend and frontend servers, and adopting GraphQL in certain areas. Solutions

Stable Like Never Before&nbsp;

With upgraded PHP and Magento versions, separate servers, and the power of NextJS, Damask Cakes experienced newfound stability and improved website performance. This stability allowed for faster deployment of updates and third-party integrations.

Smooth Navigation to Enhanced User Experience

The introduction of a horizontal category listing simplified category switching and ensured seamless navigation from category pages to product pages. It contributed significantly to an improved user experience.

Project-specific Challenges

While the project delivered remarkable results, it also came with its share of challenges. The unexpected discovery of server vulnerabilities led to a project timeline that extended beyond initial expectations. This experience underscores the importance of conducting comprehensive audits and setting clear project expectations with clients.
